okay i promise this will be really short. just need to clear thoughts once again.(: ♥
we often want the best for ourselves, but most of the time we're too lazy to change what's obstructing us to get the best. human nature? i was consulting Mrs Tan regarding PI, and i expected little changes to be made, cos i've spent alot of time and effort doing it, and to me it was quite well done already. to my surprise, she pointed out many things that needed to be edited. nearly the whole proposal section was to be edited. my first reaction was, 'i've spent so much time on this, why is she focusing on such nitty gritty details? what about my strengths?'
then it suddenly struck me. if i expected only good comments, why bother to consult her at all? the way to improve is by focusing on weaknesses. and i'm really grateful now that she took time off her personal break to edit my PI. sometimes we demand too much on teachers, expecting them to give us the best education, yet our pride is too strong to even accept negative comments/ suggestions for improvement from teachers.
TEACHABILITY. sometimes we've just got to be humble enough to admit that we have room for improvement, though much effort have already been put in our work. we're in school to learn, not to expect praises from everyone. to learn, we first have to be teachable, no?(:
